One day you wake up and realize, “Man, we’re already on Year Six?” Time flies when you’re having fun, and we’re looking forward to having y’all out for the sixth annual Red Dirt BBQ & Music Festival, presented by Hyundai of Longview, on May 4 in Downtown Tyler.
Be sure to read everything on this page, because it has the answers to pretty much any question you might have regarding this year’s festival. We’ll see you May 4. Get ready for our biggest party yet.
What’s the Gate Schedule?
VIP check-in begins at 11:00 AM at the front gate, just look for the sign for VIP Check-In & Will Call. VIP entry is at 12:00 PM. General Admission entry is at 1:00 PM and Concert-Only gates open at 3:45 PM. Get there early.
What’s the Music Schedule?
- 3:45 PM: Mike and the Moonpies
- 5:15 PM: American Aquarium
- 6:45 PM: Stoney LaRue
- 8:15 PM: Wade Bowen
- 10:00 PM: Randy Rogers Band
What If It Rains?
Red Dirt is a rain or shine event, as printed when you bought your tickets and on our website. Even if it’s raining, we party. HOWEVER, lightning is NOT rain. If there is lightning and/or severe weather in the vicinity of the festival, everyone will be evacuated from the event to their vehicles or to other shelter. In the case of consistent severe weather, festival officials will meet with public safety officials and the bands to determine the best course of action. Also as printed on our Festival Policies, no refunds will be given.
Where Do We Park?
Parking is free, unless certain businesses wish to charge at their lots at their own discretion. We recommend getting downtown early, since parking is spread out in all directions. You assume all risk and responsibility on where you park. We recommend parking at the Fair Plaza Parking Garage at the corner of Broadway Ave. and Elm St, which is free of charge.
Can We Bring Chairs, Blankets, etc.?
Yes. Keep in mind that we will have a designated area in the general admission part of the streets where chairs will not be allowed to offer more people the opportunity to stand and be close to the stage. This will be in addition to chairs not being allowed in the VIP area directly in front of the stage. There will be plenty of room for VIP and non-VIPs to have chairs with great views of the stage, however. Plus, we think you should stand for killer music anyway.
How Will Alcohol Sales Work?
Drink tickets must be purchased ($5 each) for all alcoholic beverages. There will be several ticket tents selling tickets. Tickets are redeemed at the bars for all alcohol. There will be a select few liquor sponsors at Red Dirt in 2019, and will work the same way. Due to TABC rules, drinks will not be allowed to go in or out of the liquor area; all must stay inside.
What BBQ Restaurants Will Be There?
Check out our 28 participating barbecue restaurants right here.
Can We Come and Go from the Festival?
Yep. You will receive a wristband when you first enter the festival, which will allow you to leave and return as you please, as long as you have the wristband on, so don’t take it off! No wristband = no re-entry. Tailgating is strictly prohibited, and Tyler Police Department will be patrolling parking lots throughout the day.
What Can We Not Bring?
Outside food or drinks, weapons, drugs, coolers, friends who waited too long to buy tickets, pets (service animals are welcome, of course, with proper documentation) vegetarianism and bad attitudes. Read more of our festival policies here.
Will There Be Food Available After the BBQ Part of the Festival is Over?
Every barbecue restaurant participating the festival is allowed to bring extra food to sell to concert-goers if they wish after 4:00 PM. This does not necessarily guarantee food will be available from all/any of the participating restaurants. We will have select food trucks at the festival that will open at 4:00 PM.
Will the Craft Beer Tent Be Back this Year?
Yep! Our friends at Altra Federal Credit Union will be hosting this year’s Craft Beer Tent, where you can use three drink tickets to sample some of the best craft beers in Texas and surrounding states.
Will There Be Tickets Sold at the Gate?
We think you already know the answer to that …. but it’s a no from us, dawg. We’re sold out.
